Specialist for Attracting Foreign Companies to Japan

Location: London, UK

Contract Period: Pernament (contract based)

Salary: 16.50£/hour

Job Description: A company is seeking a Specialist to support the attraction of foreign companies to Japan, focusing on the sustainability, digital, and deep tech sectors. The successful candidate will work with innovative local companies in the UK, Ireland, Sweden, Finland, Norway, and Iceland to facilitate investment in Japan, including establishing Japanese bases and M&A with Japanese companies. 

 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Identifying promising companies interested in investing in Japan.
  • Approaching target companies through various channels (exhibitions, conferences, networking events, cold emails, LinkedIn, local support organizations).
  • Providing consultation on investment in Japan (research, proposals, inquiries, meeting minutes, follow-ups, project management) in collaboration with company headquarters.
  • Supporting business matching for target companies.
  • Following up with existing project companies, managing information, and tracking achievements.
  • Networking with relevant organizations in each country to discover potential target companies.
  • Planning and assisting with pitch events/reverse pitch events aimed at discovering and matching target companies.
  • Coordinating necessary communications with company headquarters in Tokyo.
  • Performing other tasks as required by the investment team.

Requirements:

  • Eligible to work in the UK without visa sponsorship.
  • Available to work five days a week.
  • Native level English speaker with excellent business writing skills.
  • Deep understanding of social, cultural, and business practices in the UK, capable of building trust with UK companies.
  • Knowledge and practical experience in sustainability, digital, or deep tech industries is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Japanese for daily conversations, business meetings, and reading business emails is preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Committed and responsible in supporting UK companies' investment in Japan.

 

Working Conditions:

  • Working hours: 9:30 AM - 5:30 PM (1-hour lunch break from 12:30 PM - 1:30 PM).
  • Overtime: Generally not required, but up to 1 hour per day during busy periods.
  • Work location: Primarily at the company’s London office, with potential travel within the UK and abroad for meetings with UK companies.

Equipment provided: Desk, chair, phone, computer, and other necessary office supplies
