The Research Editor/Translator is responsible for translating Japanese investment research into English across a broad range of industries.

The position involves reviewing and editing translated research materials to meet high standards of quality.

The role is part of a global research production team, working closely with colleagues from various regions, including Tokyo, New York, and London.
The primary objective is to improve the quality of translated research by ensuring it is both accurate and well-written.
The position also involves providing feedback and performing post-translation alignment using an AI-powered translation tool.
Facts/Scale:
Works with the English translation team and analysts across global offices, including Tokyo and New York.
Collaborates with multiple production teams to ensure the quality and consistency of translated materials.
Responsible for delivering high-quality translations for a variety of financial research topics, including equities, macroeconomics, fixed income, and more.
Accountabilities & Responsibilities:
Translate a wide range of financial research, including equities, macroeconomics, strategy, quantitative analysis, and fixed income, from Japanese into English.
Review and ensure translations are consistent with the original Japanese text.
Edit translated research to improve readability and propose impactful titles for significant reports.
Format and adjust documents using Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
Coordinate the production of lengthy reports, dividing the workload among translators as necessary.
Work closely with analysts and production teams to ensure a smooth and accurate translation process.
Use internal workflow systems and AI-powered translation tools.
Provide feedback on the translation tool and ensure post-translation alignment for improved accuracy.
Make decisions on translation quality, including fidelity to the source text and appropriateness of expression.
Manage time and workload efficiently to meet tight deadlines.
Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Qualifications:
Translation Skills: Ability to translate a broad range of financial research and industry topics quickly, fluently, and accurately.
Review & Editing Skills: Strong capability to review and edit translated research for accuracy, consistency, and overall quality, including presentation.
Securities & Finance Knowledge: Solid understanding of Japanese equities, industries, capital markets, valuation, and macroeconomics.
Japanese Proficiency: Advanced reading comprehension in Japanese, with the ability to discuss and resolve translation or research issues in both Japanese and English.
Interpersonal & Communication Skills: Professional demeanor under pressure and the ability to communicate quickly and effectively with counterparts and analysts in multiple regions, including in Japanese.
Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint, and familiarity with Excel and PDF tools.
Time Management: Ability to work efficiently under competing deadlines and manage time effectively.
Language Proficiency: Native-level English with exceptional writing skills.
